CIS is an interdisciplinary program that focuses not only on the development of technical skills, but more importantly on the application of technological solutions to solve problems specific to the\u00a0<em>context<\/em>\u00a0of any field. The primary endeavor is not simply a technological solution, but rather solving the unique problem at hand.<\/p>\n<p>At larger schools you might find these courses in various departments, most likely computer science, communication, or art. But at W&amp;J, we\u2019ve collected these into one part of an interdisciplinary curriculum that enables students to learn about new ways to solve problems and communicate information from any field \u2013 whether it comes from the arts, humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences (the academic divisions at W&amp;J).<\/p>\n<p>Theoretically, these courses incorporate concepts from Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), visual communication, design and art.
